Collyer’s students return to The Capitol in Horsham next week with two evenings of exciting new dance performance.
Each night the programme will include an eclectic mix of contemporary choreography along with elements of ballet, street dance and physical theatre. The Ready for Take-Off shows on Wednesday 5th & Thursday 6th March start at 7.30pm, with tickets priced at £12, concessions £10.
Andrea Martin, Subject Leader for Dance and a Head of House at Collyer’s said: “Exploring a variety of different themes from the tragic to the comic and with a diverse range of music from Bob Dylan to Beyonce, Vivaldi to Arvo Part; Ready for Take-Off promises something for everyone!”
The work of guest dance artists and influences from professional choreographers such as Matthew Bourne, Akram Khan and Judith Jamison will sit alongside the students’ own choreographic work.
Melanie Russell, Assistant Principal at Collyer’s said: “We have an outstanding dance department and Andrea Martin and these exceptionally gifted dancers are a credit to Collyer’s. We are extremely excited about Ready for Take-Off being staged at the Capitol Theatre, which is a fantastic venue for our students to showcase their talent.”
Andrea Martin added: “Collyer’s has been preparing students for professional dance training for a number of years and we are hoping that these students will hopefully join the tradition of success established by former students who are now working in the profession as choreographers, dancers, teachers and managers.”
