The bomb squad has been called after a mortar shell was found in a Horsham home.

A police spokesman said: “The shell was discovered in the loft of the property in Spencers Place on Friday morning (June 17) and the finder alerted police at 10.38am.

“Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts have been called to the location and were expected at the location around 1.15pm to examine and deal with the shell.

“In the meantime, a cordon has been set up and occupants of houses within that area are being evacuated.”
