AN UPDATE on the proposed extension of the 20mph speed zone in Chichester will be heard at the South Chichester County Local Committee meeting next week.
The meeting takes place at 7pm on Tuesday February 21 at the Tramway Conference Room, Selsey Centre, Manor Road, Selsey.
Committee members have been recommended to agree to a 20mph default speed limit for Chichester – not including A and B roads.
A final decision will rest with the Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport.
If given the go-ahead up to £30,000 of section 106 money, the fund provided by housing developers to support infrastructure improvements, will be used to pay for a public consultation as part of a Traffic Regulation Order.
Committee Chairman Mike Hall said: “This is in response to significant public support for the ‘20s Plenty for Chichester’ campaign in the city.
“If agreed the public consultation will be carried out as part of the Traffic Regulation Order later this summer.”
Members will also decide on the highways infrastructure improvements for the coming year.
