The results are in and a blaze of red has swept through Crawley as six out of nine wards go to Labour in the West Sussex County Council local elections.
There were some surprises as Bob Burgess Tory candidate for Three Bridges and Northgate was pushed from his post by Labour’s Peter Lamb.
The Labour victory continued as Michael Jones took Southgate and Crawley Central and Brian Quinn won Broadfield.
Labour’s Brenda Smith retained Langley Green and West Green while Susan Mullins swept to victory in Gossops Green and Ifield.
And Labour’s Chris Oxlade retained his seat in Bewbush.
For the Conservatives only Bob Lanzer (Maidenbower), Duncan Crow (Tilgate and Furnace Green) and Richard Burrett (Pound Hill and Worth) clung on to their seats for the blues.
