The challenge and summer fayre combined raised more than£350 for the school, which caters for children aged two to eight.

Principal Beki Shanahan said: “It was delightful to see everyone having fun and taking the time to show our pre-school their support. All the money raised will help to fund specialist Montessori classroom equipment.”

The pre-school, based in Tarring Road, recently gained its third accreditation plaque under the Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation (MEAB) scheme.

The scheme, which includes two visits by assessors, offers support and guidance to Montessori schools to ensure high-quality provision.

It was launched in 2008 and The New Montessori Pre-school was one of 14 schools to be accredited in the spring term of 2011.

Beki added: “We are delighted to receive our third accreditation plaque. Being the only accredited Montessori pre-school in the area, and a charity, our team of parents and staff are committed to providing an affordable Montessori experience for all children.

“We have a highly skilled and dedicated team who wholeheartedly embrace our children’s development and learning.”

Staff received their accreditation certificate at an awards ceremony at the Institute of Education in London.
