HEAD out early to hear the sounds of the awakening countryside on the Steyning Downland Scheme later this month.
Bird expert Andrew Armitage is running Songs of the Dawn on Wednesday, May 28, and Saturday, May 31, from 7am to 9am.
Mr Armitage has been logging what birds have been using the site in the last year.
Listen for the nightingale, the rattle of the whitethroat and the nasal song of the yellowhammer. Watch out for deer and other early morning wildlife. A cooked alfresco breakfast will follow.
No dogs are allowed and people are advised to wear stout footwear. Meet at the old NTC hut, off Mouse Lane, in Steyning.
Tickets are £7.50. Pre-book at The Steyning Bookshop on 01903 812062.
