Crawley Town hope to show how much they have improved in a short space of time when they host north London club Barnet this afternoon.

Reds do not have a good recent record against the Bees, having lost both their clashes last season.

They fell 4-2 away at the Hive in December 2015 before losing again, 3-0 at the Checkatrade in May.

You will have to go back to the 2011/12 season to find a win, Reds doing the double winning 2-1 away and 1-0 at home.

In December 1993 the two sides met in a big FA Cup tie when Reds suffered a 2-1 defeat.

Crawley head coach Dermot Drummy sees this game as another good test of his new squad.

He said: “Every game is going to be tough. Apart from four players, we have put together a team virtually from scratch.

“We played Barnet in the last game of last season (losing 3-0 at home) so hopefully this will be a chance to show how far we have come.

“It’s going to be a very tough game as Barnet are a good side.

“The fans have been very positive on social media. We saw the fans jumping up and down at Exeter and that’s positive. It’s good for the players to get good vibes when you know it’s a level playing field.”

Martin Allen’s side are likely to feature former Crawley striker John Akinde, who has already scored once this season and has accumulated a terrific 55 goals in 88 league starts for Barnet.
