Doug Eaton to talk 200 years of murder at Littlehampton Library

Littlehampton Library will be hosting a gruesome talk by Doug Eaton where he looks at the British obsession with crime.

On Wednesday, November 9, at 2.30pm, come and hear about Sweeney Todd, Jack the Ripper and Victorian melodramas.

The library is set to welcome back seasoned speaker Doug Eaton. In his talk, Doug will discuss our obsession with crime and detective novels. Hear about Sweeney Todd, Jack the Ripper and Sherlock Holmes; the rash of novels about female Private Eyes and how the First World War transformed crime fiction and the introduction of the ‘thriller’.

Doug’s career spanned music and marketing before his current interest in murder as he first became well-known on the music scene of the 1960s playing alongside The Beatles with his rock group - The Detonators. In his talk ‘WHODUNNIT? 200 Years of Murder’, Doug will also explore how the First World War transformed crime fiction and the introduction of the ‘thriller’.

Tickets are £4 each and available from the Littlehampton Library, in Maltravers Road.
