Di Paola satisfied with Horsham’s ‘really good win’ over Chichester

The final scoreline of 4-1 in the Premier Division clash was somewhat harsh on the visitors who were in the match until two late goals from Darren Boswell and Jordan Clark made sure of the three points.

The results saw the Hornets climb up to second in the table and Di Paola was pleased with another three points despite not being at their best.

He said: “They have some good players and are a keen, hard-working side so I knew it was going to be quite tough, but we perhaps were not at our best so we will take the result.

“At the end it was comfortable but I never felt completely relaxed it terms of the performance. Fair play to the boys though as it’s a good win, a really good win and you have got to be happy with that.

“It was really tough on Tuesday (at Eastbourne Town). The pitch was heavy and the boys had to put in a real shift, because it might have been that and sometimes you are just not going to be on our absoulte best. No matter what you do or say, you won’t be at your best and I think that might have been the case.

“We let in a cheap goal, but came in at half-time ahead which was great and then second half, apart from the one that hit the post they didn’t cause us too many problems and we could have had one or two more over the course of the game.

“All in all it’s a good win and just knocking another game off, down to 28 to go is how you have got to think about it as you won’t play vintage football each week.”

City’s Rob Madden levelled up Joe Shelley opener before Kieron Pamment slammed home a second before half-time.

Boswell’s second-half first-time lobbed was the pick of the bunch and Di Paola added: “It was a really good finish from him. Bozzy is great at that when he gets in to those positions, that’s his strength really with that sort of run and finish.

“I thought we did ok. Pammy was a good goal and Biff’s was as well, he held the man off and caught the keeper on the blindside and obviously Jordan’s free-kick was a good finish.

“So four good goals and another game down is how I look at it and not to get too frustrated about the performance, that’s important, to just accept the fact that we are not going to be Barcelona every week.”
