AS far as I am aware, the Government’s instructions to the public sector were that cuts were to be made to non-essential services (in other words, they were not affect front line services). Why, then, are our local authorities cutting essential services, in areas such as social services and in the provision of bus services around the county?
Perhaps the council would like to respond to this, publicly, and also show us where they have already made savings in non-essential areas of their expenditure?
Equally, now that the Government has published accounts that show its income and expenditure, as well as the debt value, will the councils throughout the county let us know when we can expect to see a similar thing from them, so that we can all know where we stand?
