Worthing home burgled while occupants slept

Burglars stole food and alcohol from a Worthing house while the occupants were sleeping upstairs.

The incident took place overnight on June 11 at an address in Upper High Street, Worthing.

Property stolen from inside the house included food and alcohol, as well as a Toshiba Netbook.

From outside the house, a distinctive bright royal blue ladies’ pedal cycle, with black metal baskets on the front and back secured by white cabel ties, was taken.

A police spokesperson said: “Any burglary is distressing but it’s particulary upsetting for victims who find their home has been broken into and searched whilst they have been sleeping upstairs.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area overnight on 11 June, and we would also ask members of the public to look out for the distinctive bike, which may be discarded locally.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting serial 0359 of 12 June.
