A Bognor man has been charged with drink driving in Chichester after a police officer spotted a beer can being thrown out of a passenger window.

Police said the grey Peugeot 207 was pulled over in Via Ravenna, Chichester at around 8.55pm on Tuesday (June 6) and was subsequently seized as it was uninsured.

The passenger was ordered to retrieve his litter and put it in the bin, while the vehicle was checked, and the two men were left to walk home in the rain, police added.

Police said the driver, Patryk Plucinski, 21, a factory worker, of The Steyne, Bognor Regis, was later arrested after failing a roadside breath test.

Plucinski is due to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Friday June 23, charged with driving with 60mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system and driving with no insurance, police confirmed.

A police spokesman said it was PC Tom Van Der Wee of the Chichester Neighbourhood Response Team who witnessed the back seat passenger throw a can of beer out of the window.

Uninsured vehicles are seized under Section 165a of the Road Traffic Act.
