Sexual assault in Worthing

Police are investigating a reported sexual assault on a woman in a Worthing street.

At about 8.30am on Tuesday October 9 the 44-year old local woman was getting into her car which was parked in Clifton Road, Worthing, when she was assualted by a man who ran up to her.

However the assault was very brief as the woman managed to kick the man and he ran away, through the grounds of nearby St Andrews Church in Clifton Road.

She was shaken but unhurt

The man is described as wearing a grey coloured hooded top which had the hood up, and wearing dark denim jeans.

Detective Sergeant Chris Leech said; “If anyone saw a man acting suspiciously in the Clifton Road area between 8am and 9am on Tuesday, or saw the incident itself, please contact us via 101 quoting serial 1227 of 9/10. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.”
