Vegetables that were grown to be shown at a competition this weekend have been stolen at a village.
Sometime between 6pm on Thursday September 20 and and 9am on Friday September 21 someone tried to break into to a garden store at St Mary’s Church in Church Lane, Yapton.
A man in his 30s was seen in the location around 8pm on the 20th, and when challenged said he had lost his dog.
Police say this man may not have been involved.
However, prize leeks, ruhbarb and beetroots, which were due to be shown at a competition this weekend, were stolen during the same night from the Church Warden’s vegetable plot at the church.
PC Jackie Shears said; “Did you see anyone walking down the road with a large quantity of vegetables or anyone hanging around the Church during this period? If so please call us via 101 quoting serial 0978 0f 21/9.”
