Police warning after Littlehampton garage thefts

Arun Police are warning residents about recent garage breaks in the Littlehampton area.

The majority have been within the Beach Ward over the weekend during the night.

Overnight between Saturday (August 25) and Sunday (August 26) break-ins took place at two garages in Tideway and three bicycles were stolen at one garage in Seagate Walk.

However, nothing was stolen, and at one garage in Neptune Way and again nothing was stolen.

Police say: “Please ensure you have adequate security. Keep garden sheds and garages locked and secure. A ‘T’ bar lock can be secured to the ground externally or stand alone alarms can also be purchased. Most are battery powered and nearly all employ a passive infra-red movement or heat detector and a loud sounding alarm.

“If your garage gives access to your house it is also advisable to consider additional security for the internal door. This could include the fitting of mortice bolts to the top and bottom of the door.

“If you have any information relating to these incidents call 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. If you see any persons in the area who you suspect are about to commit a crime or are in the process of doing so call Police on 999.”
