A distinctively white-haired man who hurled racial abuse at an East Grinstead shop worker is being sought by police.

They are hoping that his ‘puffy white hair’ will lead to an early identification.

The man went into the Carphone Warehouse in London Road at around 2.30pm on Thursday, July 19.

Having been in the shop, he stopped in the doorway as he left and abused the member of staff who had been trying to serve him.

He is described as 5ft 10in, in his late 50s, of medium build, white puffy hair all over his head, white stubble beard, only a few teeth and wearing a dirty green T-shirt, blue jean jacket and blue stonewashed jeans.

The jacket may have a white stripe down the arms.

PC Ian Codling said: “This man’s hair is quite distinctive and we hope that someone will be able to identify him. If you can, please call us on 101 quoting serial 970 of 19/07.”
