Police are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in Newton Court, Haywards Heath, in the very early hours of this morning (Wednesday 7 August).

A 21-year-old woman called officers at around 12.40am to report that two men wearing balaclavas had forced their way into her flat and hit her partner over the head with an object that looked like a gun, before leaving with computer equipment and cash.

The 26-year-old victim was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital with minor head injuries. He has since been treated and discharged.

Detective Constable Simon Goulding from West Sussex CID said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation and are trying to establish if the victims were targeted in anyway or if this was a random attack.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and heard or saw any suspicious activity to please get in touch. You can call 101 quoting serial 55 of 07/8 or leave an anonymous message with the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
