Heavy plant equipment stolen

POLICE are appealing for witnesses a large number of vehicles and heavy plant equipment were stolen from Eakins Plant Hire, Charlwood Road, Lowfield Heath, Crawley.

The suspects cut through the perimeter fence of the premises and stole two Scania tipper lorries both with white cabs and blue backs, one containing a crane, a Ford Transit Connect van, five grey and red Takeuchi excavators and a yellow Thwaites 7000 dumper.

They also scraped the Eakins signs off these vehicles before they were stolen.

The burglary happened between 7am on Saturday May 5 and 2am on Tuesday May 8.

Detective Constable Rebecca Wilde said: “This burglary involved a large number of heavy vehicles and plant equipment being stolen. Someone must have heard or seen people acting suspiciously near or at the premises.”
