Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) Katy Bourne has announced her intention to establish a Youth Commission in Sussex.
The aim of the role is to create a system for consultation between young people and the PCC.
Mrs Bourne said: “The Youth Commission will provide a platform for young people to support, inform and challenge me on the Police and Crime Plan.
“I want to ensure that young people’s views are represented when key decisions are made and that they are involved in this process.
“My policies will undoubtedly have a major impact on young people – whether that’s through their experience of the police or how safe they feel in their community.
“It’s important to remember that young people are just as likely to be victims of crime as they are to become involved in criminal activity.”
