Betting office robbed by three men

A BETTING shop in Worthing was robbed last night (Tuesday February 28).

Police are appealing for witnesses. Officers went to Ladbrokes in Goring Road at around 9.30pm after three men entered the store and instructed the woman staff member to open a safe so they could steal cash.

Detective Constable Jonathan Stadius of West Sussex CID said: “One man went in through the front door to the shop and he then ordered the member of staff to open the back door which allowed two other men to gain entry.

“She was then ordered to open a safe, which she did, and the men took money from inside before leaving, probably through the back door.

“Although the woman was not directly threatened by these men and no weapons were seen this was still a frightening experience for her and I would urge anyone with information which may assist with our enquiries to contact police.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 1459 of 28/2 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
