Police are investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Angmering yesterday afternoon (Tuesday August 21).
At around 3pm a man went into the The Co-Op store in The Square, Angmering, and demanded money from the staff.
It is believed that he was carrying a gun.
The staff handed over the money and he ran from the store and was seen to scale a wall into the grounds of a nearby church.
It is not known how much money was taken.
The man is described wearing a black gas mask, tracksuit bottoms with three yellow stripes down the side which stop just below the knee, a hooded top and black trainers.
Detective Inspector Alan Pack of West Sussex CID said: “So far we have deployed extra neighbourhood policing officers as well as the police helicopter and specialist search dogs. We continue to search for the man and would appeal for anyone with information about who he may be or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact us.
“This was distressing for the staff at the store and thankfully no-one was injured during the incident.”
