DETECTIVES are appealing for the owner of four commemorative coins to come forward after they were discovered during a police search.

The coins are described as one Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Crown 1952-1977, with the words National Westminster Bank written on the reverse of the casing; one Prince of Wales Royal Wedding Commemorative Crown July 29 1981 Lady Diana Spencer, with the words National Westminster Bank written on the reverse of the casing; one 1967 half crown, and one silver coin inscribed Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother August 4 1980.

Two brooches taken during a burglary in Aintree Road, Crawley, were also discovered and identified as belonging to the elderly victim’s deceased wife. They have been returned to him.

If anyone knows who the coins belong to, they are asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial number 0015 of 8 May.
