Piers, Peter and Toby have much to be proud of, having won competitive scholarships to their chosen senior schools; this brings Cranleigh Prep pupils’ total to 13 awards so far, with a further 32 pupils sitting academic, sport, drama and all-rounder awards this term.

Toby has won the much coveted Peter Attenborough Award to Charterhouse, which is given to a select few for demonstrating various personal exceptional attributes.

Toby took part in numerous activities from a leadership test, verbal reasoning test and an interview to showing his competence as an 800m runner, his ability to jump, and tread the boards with energy and accomplished enthusiasm.

His all-round talents in these areas have earned him a well-deserved scholarship.

Peter’s raw talent has been snapped up by St John’s School, Leatherhead, who have awarded him a Sports Scholarship for his exemplary play on the rugby pitch, athletics track and field, where they clearly noticed his talent immediately. Many organisations are vying for his time, from the Harlequins Squad, the Lambs team, Guildford RFC and of course his school.

His strength and pace make him a match for any athlete; he came 3rd in the Nationals last year in the 200M and also 3rd in the shot putt. Peter’s 10.63m throw beat the previous school record by around half a metre.

Piers has been awarded a Design Scholarship to Marlborough, after impressing them with his exceptionally detailed design portfolio.

His main focus was a ‘design and make’ activity on a camp stove to rival the Hexamine camp stove. Building on his previous knowledge learnt in CDT, Piers researched existing products and produced his initial ideas. He also made a mobile USB charger, a specialised technology box and produced a toast rack, made out of a tin can.

Many congratulations to Toby, Peter and Piers for impressing their future schools with their talents, setting them up for rising to the challenges that lie ahead in their specialist areas.
