If the children have been stuck indoors this winter, then February half term is the perfect opportunity for the whole family to get outside and make the most of the 92 hours and 19 minutes of half term daylight* at beautiful National Trust places.

Across the country, many National Trust places will also be hosting fun family events during half term week, including crafts, exciting challenges, storytelling and quiz-packed trails.

You could also go on an outdoor adventure and try ticking off some of the Trust’s ‘50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾’ such as den building and kite flying.

Here are some highlights from our Sussex selection:

Petworth House and Park, Petworth: Climb through a giant picture frame, enter an art gallery, and add your pictures to the walls. Then create a 3D self-portrait and create a sparkly picture frame to put it in. In the Frame: 17 to 19 February, 11am-12.30pm and 2-3.30pm, normal admission plus £5. Booking essential on 01798 342207.

Nymans, Handcross, nr Haywards Heath: Follow this fab new ‘shapes and patterns’ trail through the nooks and crannies of this huge garden, and receive a prize if you complete it. Explorer Trail: 15 to 23 February, 10.30 – 3.30pm, normal admission plus £2. For further information call 01444 405250.
