50 toy yellow ducks gave a splash of colour to Lindfield pond.

The village went quackers at the sight that was staged by organisers of this year’s Lindfield Arts Festival.

Festival director Gabrielle Hall said the vision for the three-day 2013 event in May was ‘Stepping into Wonderland, Adventures in Art’.

The purpose of the yellow duck stunt was to bring to life the quirky idea of piquing curiosity.

Gabrielle said: “We want this year’s festival to allow everyone, young and old, to be able to play and have fun, and for us all to see the world through a child’s eyes.

“We loved the idea of transforming the pond into an art installation that makes us think about how we see the space around us, especially something as familiar as the pond.”

The ducks were donated by Fun Bags Party Shop of The Broadway, Haywards Heath, in support of the weekend of Friday, May 10 to Sunday, May 12.

People are also being urged to see what’s booked for the festival already by going to its website where there is also a free online competition for one family to win ‘Freedom of the Festival’.

The website address is www.lindfieldartsfestival.com

Gabrielle added: “At this Valentine’s time of year, the organisers hope that this bit of fun will help villagers fall in love with the festival.”
