Woman attacked at Littlehampton club

Police are investigating a late night incident in a Littlehampton club.

At about 2am on New Year’s Day (Tuesday, January 1), a 38-year-old Worthing woman was attacked in the female toilets of the Coco Lounge in Clifton Road, Littlehampton, and sustained a serious eye injury for which she was treated at Worthing Hospital.

A 32-year-old woman from Angmering was arrested at the time on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and was later released on bail until 19 February while police complete further enquires.

Detective Constable Andy Hobden said: “This was a nasty attack in which the victim was initially close to losing the sight in her left eye. I would like to speak to anyone who was in the toilets at the time of this assault and who witnessed what happened and to anyone else who has any other information which may assist.
