Video: support for Armed Forces Day

Waiting for Video...

Armed Forced Day on Saturday (June 30) is being celebrated across the county with a range of events.

The day is an opportunity to do two things. Firstly, it lets people know about the contribution of the armed forces. Secondly, it gives everyone the chance to show their support.

Armed Forces Day first began as Veterans Day 2006.

New research from national restaurant group Crown Carveries has revealed that nearly half of us think we should be doing more to commemorate our armed forces – yet almost the same number confess they didn’t even realise Armed Forces Day is approaching.

The research also shows that when troops return, one in five say we should provide more support in terms of lodging and food and the most popular item we’d like to send to our forces away from home is a roast dinner.

Crown Carveries is supporting 2012’s Armed Forces Day by offering a free breakfast or carvery to all army, navy and air force men and women, past and present, up to Saturday June 30.

All existing, and veteran, service people simply need to visit www.crowncarveries.co.uk or www.facebook.com/crowncarveries to download the ‘free Forces meal’ voucher and present this along with their current ID card (or veteran lapel badge) to staff at their local Crown Carvery restaurant.

Heather Colebrook, Marketing Manager for Crown Carveries, said: “Crown Carveries is the only national restaurant group to have supported Armed Forces Day since it launched. We pride ourselves in being the UK’s most regal carvery brand, our name says it all, and as a result we feel best placed to support our serving and past troops on their commemorative day.

“We hope a royally good roast dinner will provide a hearty morale boost for all our proud veterans and hardworking military personnel in the week leading up to and on Armed Forces Day itself, Saturday 30th June.”
