CHILDREN from Southwick and Fishersgate went on parade on Saturday for the launch of the Adur Festival.
For the first time, an Adur Festival children’s parade was organised for the area, as part of the new plan to create a festival focus in three separate parts of the district.
Youngsters walked from Eastbrook Primary Academy’s Gardner Road site to the Fishersgate Centre, where the main activities were set up.
Fanfara brass band treated the children and their families to some music from Moldavia and Macedonia, before leading the parade along Gardner Road.
Some of the children wore full costumes on the Strange Creatures theme and others took along sock puppets they had made at school.
Elizabeth Mienert, who was organising events in the Fishersgate Centre, said it had been a terrific day and it meant many families from Southwick and north of the railway line had discovered the centre for the first time.
