Horsham District Council has called its second full meeting in two weeks to set council tax for 2013/14.

The council meeting, set for Tuesday February 19, six days after the previous full council meeting, will formally set the council tax including the district tax, special charge, and precepts from West Sussex County Council, Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner and parish councils in the Horsham district.

HDC is the collection authority for WSCC and other bodies that raise funding through council tax.

A spokesperson for HDC said: “Because West Sussex County Council’s meeting to approve its budget for 2013/14 is on Friday February 15, Horsham District Council cannot set its council tax for 2013/14 at its meeting, which is held in public, on Wednesday February 13 as the county council’s decision will not be made until Friday.”

Debate around HDC’s budget for 2013/14 will have taken place at the first meeting on Wednesday February 13, based on recommendations made by the cabinet.
