WHEN 20-year-old Martha Perrin finishes work as a sales manager for Next at the Holmbush Shopping Centre in Shoreham, it is straight home – to spend the evening with her nose in a book.
Well, a script actually, as she has been cast as leading lady in Southwick Players’ production of Far From the Madding Crowd.
Rehearsals start on Tuesday and Far From the Madding Crowd will be performed in Southwick in October, as the Southwick Players’ entry in the 2014 Brighton and Hove Arts Council (BHAC) Drama Awards.
Based on one of Thomas Hardy’s most popular and enduring novels, the play takes the audience on a theatrical journey through Hardy country, following the life of a passionate young girl, Bathsheba Everdene.
Bathsheba, played by Martha, who lives in Brighton, is propelled into womanhood by her experiences of love and loss.
Far From The Madding Crowd will be performed at The Barn Theatre, Southwick Street, Southwick, from October 15 to 18, at 7.30pm daily.
Tickets are £11. Visit the website www.southwickplayers.org.uk to book or call the box office on 01273 597094.
