BELLS of St Mary’s will ring out for about three hours on Saturday for a rare full peal.
The sound will be heard across Shoreham town centre from 10.30am, thanks to a visiting bell ringing team.
Churchwarden Ian Tompkin said there had not been a full peal at St Mary de Haura Church for some years.
“This is a very rare event. Normal peals for services take place, with quarter and half peals taking place on special occasions, but we only allow a full peal on very rare occasions.”
Mr Tompkin said the church had requests from visiting ringers from time time and they had allowed the full peal on this occasion.
“We have to carefully plan, as the bells will be ringing for three hours,” he explained.
