A NEWLY-refurbished Westhampnett House was unveiled on Friday (February 8).

The nursing home has undergone a renovation costing more than £150,000, which began in March last year.

Louise Kbies said she was ‘very proud’ to be manager of the home, and said it was ‘onwards and upwards’ for the future.

“It was a really great event,” she said of the opening on Friday. “People were astonished at the high level of refurbishment.”

Director Trevor Hyman of Bethesda Healthcare, which took over the house in early 2012, praised the work of those involved in the project, and especially that of Louise.

“When you take over an old property, there is a lot that needs to be done, such as upgrading services,” he said.

“While the home was fairly well-known and had a good reputation, all this work needed to be done.”

Work has included installing wet rooms, upgrading almost all of the residents’ rooms, and installing new plumbing and electrics.

The official opening was attended by Peter Clementson, chairman of Chichester District Council.

Westhampnett House has been a private nursing home for more than 30 years, and the Grade II-listed building also has a historic apple orchard.

“It’s on very, very beautiful parkland grounds,” added Mr Hyman.
