New parking racks for bicycles at Hassocks Station
JPMT. Hassocks Station if need of refurbishment
A £200,000 two tier parking facility for 200 bicycles is to be installed at Hassocks station, with CCTV and lighting to improve security.
The funding is part of a £1.3million tranche of investment to improve parking facilities for bicycles in Sussex stations that also include Lewes, Eastbourne and Brighton.
Work has already begun on replacing the old, out-dated station at Hassocks with a new one and the racks will be a welcome addition.
Transport Minister Norman Baker said: “Cycling is great for your health, great for the environment and great for the economy and we need to harness and build on the success of our cycling Olympians and the Tour de France to encourage yet more people to get on their bikes and experience the pleasure and benefits of cycling.”
