New deputy PCC to be appointed

Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne has announced her intention to appoint Worthing councillor Steve Waight as a full-time deputy.

Mr Waight, whose appointment will be subject to a confirmation hearing by the Police & Crime Panel on February 7, will be paid an annual salary of £45,000.

Mrs Bourne said: “Steve’s experience and links with the local community as former chairman of the Police Authority and a local councillor will be an invaluable addition to the team.

“He will play a vital role in supporting me in working with the police, partners and the public to ensure we are all safer in Sussex.”
