A grateful mum is trying to trace a couple of good Samaritans who came to her rescue after she ran out of petrol on a chilly night with two children in the car.
Christine Turner, of Robin Close, Langley Green, was stranded with her daughter Eliie, and Ellie’s friend Kacie when she ground to a halt in Martyrs Avenue at 8pm on Thursday (February 7).
She said: “I had my nine-year-old daughter and her friend with me but had no money or my mobile phone.
“I did have a petrol can in my boot so I went to the BP garage just up the road but they were unable to help me.”
That was when her unknown heroes stepped in and asked whether she had broken down and offered to help.
Christine added: “He had seen me and thought that my battery had failed. He went home and got some jump leads.
“When he found that I was not at the car he came to the garage and offered me help.”
When she told the couple that she needed to get home to pick up some money for petrol, they offered her and the children a lift.
The experience left Christine with a renewed faith in the decency of people.
She said: “I just want to say another big thank you to him and his partner.
“This has given me hope that there are good people in this world willing to help others.”
