More than a quarter of a million people saw a mother’s tattoo of her twin daughters after she posted a photograph on Facebook .

Chloe Reynolds, 22, gave birth to twin girls, Mia and Maddison, two years ago after they were given less than 50 per cent chance of survival.

The Bewbush resident was pregnant with monoamniotic twins which occurs in one in 60,000 pregnancies.

Monoamniotic twins are identical twins which share the same amniotic sac within the uterus which can cause fatal complications during pregnancy.

Chloe was tattooed with an image of her babies four weeks ago and posted it on the Facebook page ‘Tattoed Parents’ along with the story of her rare pregnancy.

Within 48 hours it received more than a quarter of a million ‘likes’, 90,000 shares and more than 10,000 comments.

Chloe said: “I was overwhelmed with the amount of positivity I got.

“Through it I found 10 people who have been through or are going through the same type of pregnancy.

“It’s so nice to share my experience and educate so many people.”

Chloe, who already had a six month old baby when she fell pregnant with twins, was advised to have a termination 12 weeks into her pregnancy.

She said: “My heart and my world fell to the ground and I was a wreck for weeks until I decided I had to let nature takes its course.

“I was in hospital every week for scans. At any moment I was told if one of the twins wrapped a cord around the other twin and blocked off their oxygen there was nothing they could do about it.”

The twins were born through an emergency caesarean section eight weeks early in December 2010 and after 22 days in incubation, they were home and in perfect health for Christmas.

Chloe and her husband, James, 37, are both Pagans and the tattoo’s symbolism is based on their belief that god is the sun and the goddess is the moon. Chloe explained: “The twins are the sun and the moon and my life revolves around the twins like the sun and the moon.”
