EIGHT new caravans have arrived on Southwick Green overnight, adding to the seven or so that were already there.
A group of travellers turned up there on Friday morning and the council decided not to tolerate the encampment.
A Notice of Direction was served, requiring them to leave the land by Saturday evening.
But the travellers remained over the bank holiday weekend and a further eight caravans arrived overnight.
One resident said: “You cannot see a blade of grass on that section of the green now.”
The process server is going out this morning to complete a welfare audit on the second group.
A court hearing for the first group is set for tomorrow.
