Lifeboat launched to injured seaman

A MAN was rescued by the coastguard helicopter after injuring his arm while working on board a 335metre container ship 18 miles south of

Shoreham.

The seaman, from the Philippines, had injured his arm while working on board the Prague Express, which was en-route to Southampton.

He was flown to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, for treatment.

Shoreham RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was launched at 1.50pm on Saturday (February 9) to help the man but by the time the lifeboat had reached the ship, the coastguard helicopter had been scrambled to airlift the man off.
