Crawley United u14 football team took to the training pitch in their pyjamas to raise money to send a sick boy to America for treatment.

Danny King, of Tilgate, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in Aprill 2011 and needs a three-month course of treatment in America.

Rob Hallard, of Crawley United, said: “Players and friends of Danny approached the manager wanting to do something to show their support for this local cause.”

And their determination certainly paid off as they have raised £724.70, with money still coming in.

Danny’s dad Gary said: “I went and watched them and it was freezing!

“It was all their idea to raise the money so you can’t thank them enough. They have got some good hearts.”

Danny’s brother, Billy, 14, took part in the event on January 30.

He said: “It was quite fun because we were running around we kept warm even though it was freezing cold.”
