Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted at a block of flats in Crawley.

A 27-year-old woman was at home with her children at her flat in Woodfield Road, Northgate, when she heard a knock at her door, at around 9pm on Saturday January 11.

A man punched her in the face when she answered the door.

She fell against the door but was able to lock the door and call the police.

PC Louise Giles said: “Thankfully the victim was not seriously injured and suffered a swollen and bruised cheek but was obviously shaken by the incident.

“The suspect is described as white, between 20 and 30 and medium build. Did you see a man in the area on Saturday evening acting suspiciously or did you let him into Clarke House flats? We are keen to hear from anyone with information.

“Please contact us on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1326 of 11/1. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
