Martlets Hall will host its first Volunteer Fair on Saturday giving locals a chance to talk to over 25 local organisations and charities about their work and the opportunities they can offer.

Volunteers will range from youth workers to community café helpers, radio presenters and sports coaches.

One volunteer, who is recovering from a head injury, uses voluntary work with a conservationist charity to learn new skills which helped him return to full time employment.

He said: “The public really appreciate what we are doing and the difference our work makes.

“It’s a really good feeling when people comment on how good your work is.”

Run by Mid Sussex (South) CVS & Volunteer Centre in partnership with Mid Sussex District Council, the fair runs from 10am-1pm and will include refreshments and Mid Downs Radio broadcasting.
