HUNDREDS of people visited Shoreham RNLI’s lifeboat station last Saturday for its annual open day.

Visitors saw both the all-weather Tamar class lifeboat and inshore D class lifeboat launch twice during the day and carry out a man-over-board demonstration, assisted by the Brighton and Littlehampton RNLI lifeboats.

There were long queues to go aboard the two lifeboats, meet the crew and visit the various stalls.

Among the attractions was a display of model lifeboats by the Southern Model Lifeboat Society, bouncy castle, tombola, refreshments and sea safety advice.

Shoreham lifeboat coxswain Steve Smith said: “Our annual open day once again proved popular, despite us holding it on a Saturday this year rather than our usual day of Sunday.

“It was great to have some much support from the public and hopefully raise awareness of what we do.”

All the proceeds from the day go to Shoreham RNLI.
