HIDDEN eggs were tracked down at Shoreham Lifeboat Station on Saturday, at the annual Easter fun day and egg hunt.

Families were given guided tours of the station, including the chance to see the state-of-the-art Tamar lifeboat and the smaller inshore lifeboat on Kingston Beach.

There was also an exhibition of model boats, children’s games, tombolas and a bouncy castle.

Adur District Council chairman Mike Mendoza went along during the morning to meet the crew and find out more about their work.

He said: “I was totally taken aback by the pure selflessness of these extremely brave volunteers who literally give up their free time in order to help others and make themselves available any time of the day or night in case of emergency.

“I had a brilliant tour of the utterly amazing lifeboat and could not believe the technology on board this £3million boat.”

The fun day was organised by the Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Society, which raises funds towards the cost of equipping and training the crew and the maintenance of the lifeboat station.

The next society event is a spring quiz on Saturday, May 24, at St Peter’s Church hall, West Street, Shoreham, at 7pm, which includes a fish and chip supper and raffle.
