Residents in four roads who did not have their rubbish and recycling collected on Christmas Eve have been asked to contact Crawley Borough Council to arrange for it to be picked up.

Collections were not made in River Mead and Strathmore Road, Ifield, due to emergency service vehicles dealing with the flooding at The Gables Nursing Home.

In Ferring Close, Ifield, a fallen tree blocked access to part of the road.

And in Loveletts, Gossops Green, no recycling was collected due to parked cars blocking the way.

A spokesman for Crawley Borough Council said: “Our contractors returned to these roads today (Friday December 27) but we were not able to let everyone know in time, so if you live in these roads and your waste has not been collected today, please either put it back out on the next collection day (Thursday 2 January) or call 01293 538058 and we will return for it.”
