While heavy rain and flooding proved a nightmare to some two Horsham commuters took advantage of the appearance of ‘Lake Bedford’ to indulge in some light canoeing this morning.

Chris Barraclough and his daughter Caroline had attempted to commute to London today (Monday January 6), but like many were unable to do so due to heavy flooding cancelling trains running through Horsham.

Instead the pair took to ‘Lake Bedford’, at the rear entrance to Horsham Railway Station, on their canoes to make full use of the temporary watercourse.

Mr Barraclough said: “This lake appears regularly after heavy rain and is quite a nuisance for anyone using the rear of the station.

“It really is about time it was fixed once and for all.”
