HOUSEBOAT owners who put up banners to support Shoreham River Fest were upset to find some were stolen or ruined almost immediately.
All along Riverbank, colourful banners were put up in various shapes and sizes last week.
But on Thursday evening, six sets were stolen and two others were snapped and torn.
A sign put up on Friday read: “The houseboats have decorated the towpath with bunting to help celebrate River Fest this weekend.
“Sadly, six sets were stolen last night from along here.
“We wish our other visitors a happy walk.”
Owners gathering at Houseboat Verda for a private viewing of Katharina Dubno’s exhibition What the Water Gave Me, which was part of River Fest, spoke of ther upset and anger.
It is believe a group of youths gathering on the nearby recreation ground were responsible.
The exhibition featured Katharina’s photographs capturing life on the houseboats, taken as part of a scholarship scheme.
The owners allowed her to become part of their lives and take natural shots as they went about their daily lives.
