Cash handouts boost county projects

County news.

County news.

Three community projects have been backed by the Adur County Local Committee.

The committee agreed to distribute a total of £8,054 from its Community Initiative Fund to the following projects:

£3,500 towards the refurbishment of new kitchens for Adur Voluntary Action in Lancing. The charitable company provides meals for elderly people.

£2,400 towards mentoring and technical support to manage the Fishersgate Online and Resource Centre Club at Fishersgate Community Centre. The centre is used by vulnerable adults and children.

£2,154 towards purchasing new audio equipment for Shoreham’s Original All-Stars Music CIC, an organisation which encourages young people aged between seven and 20 years old to perform music live.

Angie Mills, Chairman of the Adur County Local Committee, said: “We felt each of these three causes were worthy of financial support.

“Our Community Initiative Fund has helped many local groups and organisations over the past few years.

“I would encourage organisations to have a look and consider applying for a grant if they’ve got a project coming up which would benefit the community.”
