A CAR ended up on its side in a three-car crash in Southwick this morning.

The red Renault estate was travelling on the A259 Albion Street when the collision occurred.

One woman had to be helped out from her seat but she was not trapped. She was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The other two cars involved were parked in the road at the time.

One crew from Shoreham fire station was called to assist at 10.32am and remained at the scene until 10.55am.

The accident partially closed the busy seafront road between the junctions with Station Road and The Gardens, and lead to long tailbacks during the morning.

Sussex Police were directing traffic while the overturned car was recovered.

The incident was reported as cleared about five minutes ago.
