THE long-awaited repair works to Broadwater Bridge began on Monday.

So far, traffic flow across the bridge has been steady but there has been more congestion than usual at the north end of Chapel Road and in both northbound and southbound directions in Broadwater Road, which has a lane closed in both directions.

There is no right turn into King Edward Avenue from Broadwater Road northbound and a one-way system is in place along King Edward Avenue, The Quashetts and Westbourne Avenue, there is no right turn from Langton Road into Broadwater Road southbound and a northbound lane has been closed in Chapel Road.

West Sussex Highways has listed the official end date as March 31, 2015, to allow for any unforeseen circumstances which may affect the repair works. If more time is needed, works will stop at the end of December and resume at the end of January 2015.
