Country house hotel Gravetye Manor in West Hoathly has been named 2013-14 AA Hotel of the Year for England.
The award is the AA’s ultimate accolade for hotels in the UK and is given to hotels recognised as being outstanding examples in their market.
The award was presented to the Gravetye team at the AA Hospitality Awards dinner at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
In addition Gravetye was awarded with the AA Inspectors’ Choice Award and four Red Stars for 2013/2014.
Managing director Andrew Thomason said: “We are thrilled to be recognised by such prestigious groups and awards.
“Our aim has always been to operate a luxury hotel whilst offering impeccable service within a relaxed and comfortable environment.
“These awards are a true testament to what we are trying to achieve and we are confident that we can continue to build on this over the next few years.”
Gravetye Manor’s grandiose Elizabethan origins date from 1598. The hotel stands in 1,000 acres of ancient forestry land and is surrounded by 35 acres of historic landscaped gardens.
